Our dear friend and colleague Veaceslav Turcan R.I.P.

Dear colleagues,

With great sadness I have to inform you that our dear friend and colleague, Veaceslav Turcan, has passed away today at age of 55. He was a great human rights defender, known not only in Moldova, but also outside its borders. He was and will always be the founder of a number of human rights organisations - Amnesty International Moldova, SIEDO, Human Rights Embassy…

He will always be remembered as a professional human rights lawyer, a man with a great charisma and personality, infinite energy and humour. His friends and colleagues could rely on him for support and advise, no matter what. It is a great loss for all of us and for the human rights cause.

Veaceslav has left behind a wife and two sons. Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.

He will remain in our hearts forever.
